India Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday met with California Governor Edmund Brown and later with Salman Khan, the founder of Khan Academy, a non-profit educational organization.
“Deepening ties with California, this time on the official side: Governor Edmund Brown Jr. calls on PM,” external affairs ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted.
“An educator with a difference. Salman Khan, founder of @khanacademy calls on PM @narendramodi,” he posted.
Khan Academy is a free online educational platform that produces videos on diverse subjects for students.
Salman ‘Sal’ Khan, he of the online tutoring fame — and not of the filmi notoriety one – has been shaking up the world of education for some years now, and his work has reached the ears of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Although Indian-origin tech heavies such as Satya Nadella (Microsoft) and Sundar Pichai (Google) have captured the headlines for their upcoming meetings with the PM, it is the founder of the famed Khan Academy, an online education treasure trove, who had a special one-on-one with Modi.
